About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Assistant to join the team. As an Optical Assistant you will work alongside the clinical team in the day to day running of eye care clinics, carrying out diagnostic examinations whilst maintaining high quality care to all patients.
This role is 37.5 hours across 4 days. During the initial training period, lasting at least 8 weeks, you will need to travel to various locations within the region for a minimum of 3 days per week. These sites include, but are not limited to, Slough, Stevenage, Ilford, and Watford. Once training is complete, you will be primarily based in Worthing for at least 2 days a week, with the remaining 2 days involving travel to other sites as necessary. All travel will occur during your scheduled working hours. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, and overnight stays can be arranged when required.
We are looking for someone who can:
Assist in the running of pre- and post-operative clinicals
Act as theatre runner/escort ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care, and our theatre team are assisted during surgery
Support patients throughout their journey with CHEC and report any concerns.
Ensure all equipment is checked and ready for use
Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities
Adhere to good record keeping and high standards of quality patient care

Natural ability to empathise with patients and demonstrate a genuine care

Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Desire and willingness to develop in line with the framework and your personal development plan
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other systems
The ability to learn and adapt to new internal systems
Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to prioritise and schedule work independently
Approachable and friendly manner to welcome our patients into the clinic
